Wedding Directory Redesign

Solutions:

Background

Having already worked on the Dream Wedding Directory in its infancy, I was very happy to be approached to redesign the site to encompass new features.

Requirements

Redesign a directory website to list wedding suppliers and their blogs in and easy to find layout.  Keep the site feeling familiar to regular visitors, while modernising the feel of the logo and visitor experience.

Concept

Moving away from the previous heart logo I decided to play on the symmetry of the website name.  A monogram seemed perfectly suited to these initials, while keeping the intertwined feeling of the previous graphics. Adding to the use of brown, I complimented it with a soft cream, keeping a neutral yet classy feel for the website, rather than trying to copy current wedding fashions.

As the site needed to focus on different topics, supplier directory, blog directory aimed at prospective couples looking for services, and enable suppliers to contact the site for listing details, I opted for a tab top design. All main navigation is visible from the homepage, but as you burrow down sub-navigation directs visitors further. Photographs feature heavily as navigation for visitors to the site, and more factual text and graphics links for supplier targeted pages. Following on from this customer themed design, I chose to keep the websites newly introduced tag line in line with the site minimal header.
